Remedi have developed a specific Hate Crime focused support programme called ‘Step Up, Beat Hate’

We currently provide Hate Crime Victim Support Services across the West Midlands and Cheshire

Our Hate Crime Victim Services, Step Up Beat Hate, are a support service for all victims and witnesses of Hate Crime and Hate Incidents.

Hate Crime is any criminal offence which is perceived by the victim or any other person, to be motivated by hostility or prejudice towards a person based on their race, religion, sexual orientation, disability, or gender identity.

Hate Crime can fall into three main areas: physical assault, verbal abuse and incitement to hatred.

A Hate Incident is any incident which the victim, or anyone else, thinks is based on someone’s prejudice towards them because of their race, religion, sexual orientation, disability, or gender identity. Not all Hate Incidents will amount to criminal offences.

Our friendly team of Triage Workers and Support Workers will work with you to assess your needs following the Hate Crime/Incident and build a tailored support plan with you to address these needs, enabling you to cope and recover from the Hate Crime/Incident.

We can offer you:

• Confidential emotional and practical support
• Support at court
• Advocacy
• Access to a range of support agencies
• Support with your Victim Personal Statement

We can support you whether the offence has been reported to the police or not. Support is also available at any point in your journey – whether the offence has just happened or if it is historical.

We work in partnership with local and national charities across the regions to ensure you are receiving the best support in your recovery.
